Over the last month or so we’ve been soaking up the excitement of being land owners and on the way to building our little dream home.
So, what do we want? Well, we love windows and natural light. We love some things about the tiny home movement, though as someone who lived in Tokyo for five years, I understand the drawbacks of ‘living tiny’ perhaps more than most tiny home dreamers. We love our current 700 sq foot house that we’re renting in Denver. So, for the moment, we’re in the process of looking
through lots of books and eating lots of soup while making designs on napkins.
The big basil leaf is our king sized bed, with a wall of windows on the wide wall to the right looking at a beautiful view.
While not the most practical thing, we’ve been looking at all sorts of weird non-square designs recently and admiring how cool they are.
Basically, we feel like we want one big open concept type of room with the living room/dining room/kitchen all together, a bedroom, and one more room for guests/office/all the bikes.
I’ve warned Richard that like any true Colorado enthusiast, I don’t yet have enough bikes and we need to plan for this in the future.
And so, while the weather continues to vacillate between 80 degrees and snowing, we eat more soup, discuss how we can design a house that supports our favorite things in life and make walls out of bean sprouts.
