Richard is in love with the idea of having a concrete floor, a la Dwell magazine chic.

Now that we have water from the well– yay!  no more hauling water up in containers!

And a cement mixer from craigslist: let’s get to it.

The seam ended up being ugly and difficult to fix.  We are, after all just newbie human, unused to how hard working cement is.  For a long time we had a rug over the back part of the bedroom (thanks ReStore) and the not polished but smooth cement in the front.

Eventually it felt too cold and Richard got a big fluffy shag carpet.
