Man is the only animal to borrow tools

September 19, 2016 by Richard

Today we joined the Denver Tool Library. This is really a very cool option for those who need use of a variety of tools but don’t have the space, money, or allowance of a loved one (…ahem…Kori) to fill the entire house with awesomeness in the form of new tools. For the mere cost of $100/yr Kori and I can check out quite an extensive list of tools for free !!!!

I joined us up today because I was in need of a tap & die set to fix our surveyor’s transit tripod. The tripod was given to us but one of the legs was busted and needed a repair. The tool would have cost me $30 at the local hardware store and I will almost never need it again. Instead, I just put that money as 1/3 of the cost for our library membership. The tool library has many tools I know we’ll need including:

  • Air compressor
  • Chainsaw
  • Table Saw
  • Miter Saw
  • Clamps
  • Nail Gun
  • Work Light
  • Tile Saw
  • Lawn mower
  • Wheelbarrow
  • And the list goes on…

So next time you’re in need of a tool – check out this as an option in your local area. For our part we’re happy to be part of a community of tool users and at the end of this project might donate some of the tools we buy back to the organization. Pass it forward.
