We got our first appliance and drum-roll …… its a microwave !!!!!
Why am I so excited? Because this isn’t just any old microwave – its an under-counter microwave. A what you ask? Let me show you the glory.
Under-counter microwaves are a slight luxury but great when you have limited counter space (or don’t want the blight of a box on your counter) they fit the spot.
OK – really all the other reasons I could give are just fluff from here on out. They work like a regular microwave, have the same interior capacity (just in drawer form), and warm up food like any other device that vibrates water molecules. But they’re cool!
We found this unit at our local ReStore. Although its used, it has no blemishes or signs of wear – and an in-store test proved it could nuke a cup of water fast and hot! And best of all it cost a fraction of a brand-new unit.
Original Cost ~$1,000
Our Price $300
Now – would we have bought a new unit just to save the space? Absolutely not. $1,000 is waaayyyy to much to pay for a microwave (even if Richard has pined for one for 2 years). Is $300 too much to pay? Depends who you ask. The lady of the house would be happy with a $100 unit stuck on a shelf under a counter. The gentleman – well – he got his item of lust. But in all fairness I promised Kori she would have unlimited running hot water so we kind of both get something we want 🙂
